This summary is only a guide. The full terms below are what apply.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and the team behind Wind Client ("Wind Client", "we", "us"). They cover the Wind Client launcher, its in-game menus mod, its online features and the website at windclient.com (together, the "Service").
They cover only the Service described here. A separate purchase or an unrelated product or service requires its own applicable agreement.
These terms apply when you accept them through a process that gives you reasonable notice and an opportunity to review them, or otherwise enter a binding agreement under applicable law. If you do not agree, do not install or use the launcher. Merely visiting this website does not waive your legal rights.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. Agreement to these terms is not consent to data processing that requires a separate affirmative choice under privacy law.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the launcher and its online features. If you have not reached the age at which you can enter this agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to it with you. Nothing here takes away a minor's rights under applicable law or imposes responsibility on a parent who has not validly agreed.
2. Minecraft, Mojang and Microsoft
Wind Client is not an official Minecraft product. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. We are solely responsible for Wind Client.
Wind Client does not sell, include or give you Minecraft. To play, you need a Minecraft: Java Edition licence on a Microsoft account. When you play through Wind Client you are still bound by the Minecraft End User License Agreement, the Microsoft Services Agreement and the rules of any server you join. Game files are downloaded directly from Mojang's servers to your computer.
Signing in to your Microsoft account happens on Microsoft's own sign-in page. We never see your Microsoft password.
3. Your licence to use Wind Client
We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Wind Client on computers you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
Wind Client currently has no purchase price, paid subscription or automatic renewal. We will not charge you under these terms without a separate offer explaining the price, payment terms, cancellation and any refund rights, and your affirmative agreement. Third-party purchases, including Minecraft, are governed by the seller's terms and applicable law.
You may not:
- sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Wind Client, or offer modified copies of it, without our written permission
- remove or change any copyright, trademark or "not an official Minecraft product" notices
- present Wind Client, or anything made with it, as official Minecraft, Mojang or Microsoft content
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Wind Client, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms
4. Rules for using the Service
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break any law, or the rules of Minecraft, Mojang, Microsoft or any server
- attack, overload, scrape or try to get unauthorised access to our servers or anyone else's
- interfere with other people's use of the Service, or pretend to be someone else
- spread malware, or anything that infringes other people's rights
- get around rate limits, security features or bans
Offline accounts, where available, are for testing only and don't let you play Minecraft without a licence. Using them to get around Minecraft's licensing is not allowed.
5. Mods, modpacks, servers and other third-party content
Wind Client lets you find and install mods, modpacks, shaders and resource packs from Modrinth, install loaders such as Fabric and Forge, import instances from other launchers and join Minecraft servers. All of this content and these services are made and run by other people, not by us.
- We don't create, review or scan third-party files and can't promise they are safe, legal, working or free of viruses. Review their source and permissions, use appropriate security tools and keep backups. This does not exclude any legal responsibility we have for our own conduct
- Each mod, pack and server has its own licence and rules, which you must follow. Mods and packs from Modrinth are also covered by Modrinth's terms
- Server names, icons, descriptions and player counts shown in Wind Client come from the servers themselves or from public status services. Showing a server doesn't mean we endorse or are connected with it
- Other websites and services control their own content and practices. Linking to them does not guarantee their safety or change your rights against us under applicable law
To report content you think is illegal or infringes your rights, see our Copyright and trademarks page.
6. Cloud features
Wind Client stores settings, your instance list, saved servers and Minecraft account profiles online. Each install gets its own device identifier linked to these records; it is not anonymous. While you play, the presence feature lets anyone querying your Minecraft UUID determine whether it was recently active with Wind Client. The Privacy Policy explains the collection, public disclosure, retention and your choices. Keep your computer secure, because someone with access to it may be able to use your Wind Client data.
We may limit how often the online features can be used to protect them from abuse.
7. Updates and changes to the Service
The installed version checks for updates, downloads them and can automatically close and restart the launcher to install them when a game is not active. A downloaded update can also install when the launcher closes. The portable version does not update itself. We may change or discontinue features, subject to applicable law and any obligations we have to you. Where reasonably practicable, we will give advance notice of changes that materially reduce the service, together with an opportunity to export your launcher data.
8. Who owns what
Wind Client, its code, design, name and logo belong to us and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don't give you any rights to them other than the licence in section 3.
Minecraft and its assets belong to Mojang and Microsoft. Mods, packs and other third-party content belong to their creators. Your worlds, screenshots and settings stay yours.
If you voluntarily send us product suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the Service without an obligation to pay you, unless we separately agree otherwise. You keep ownership of your feedback and reviews. Nothing here restricts honest reviews, lawful criticism, reports to regulators or other legally protected communications, or requires you to transfer ownership of a consumer review.
9. No warranty
Wind Client is free software provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, secure, always available, compatible with every version or mod, or that it won't affect your files. Things like mods, game updates and internet problems can break worlds or instances, so keep backups of anything you care about.
This section does not exclude statutory warranties or other consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the law of your U.S. state of residence. Where a disclaimer is prohibited, that disclaimer does not apply to you.
New Jersey consumers: sections 9 and 10 do not exclude or limit any warranty, liability or remedy that New Jersey law does not permit us to exclude or limit, including rights under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and the Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act. No disclaimer in these sections applies to such rights.
10. Limits on our liability
To the extent applicable law permits, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses and lost profits. We do not set a monetary cap on consumer claims in these terms. Loss of data or worlds is subject to the same legal standards as other loss; it is not automatically excluded merely because Wind Client is free.
No exclusion applies to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability, damages, statutory remedies or other rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. This includes non-waivable rights under U.S. state consumer protection, privacy and product liability laws. Third-party involvement does not excuse our own legal obligations. The New Jersey statement in section 9 also applies here.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using Wind Client at any time. To remove online launcher data, use Settings, Storage, Delete your online data or contact us as described in the Privacy Policy. The launcher restarts and registers again if you continue using it, so close the launcher and game after deletion to stop further collection. Uninstalling alone does not delete online data, and local files may remain.
We may suspend or block access to our online features for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after these terms end.
12. Law and disputes
These terms do not select an exclusive governing law or court. Applicable law, including mandatory consumer protections in your U.S. state or other place of residence, determines your rights and the courts in which a claim may be brought.
You may contact us to try to resolve a problem, but doing so is not a condition of exercising legal rights or bringing a claim. These terms do not require arbitration, waive jury trials or class actions, shorten a statutory limitation period, or prevent complaints to a regulator or attorney general. EU consumers may also contact their national consumer advice services or an appropriate alternative dispute resolution body.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when features or the law change. We will update the date and provide reasonable advance notice of material changes through an appropriate channel, such as the launcher or website, unless an immediate legal or security change is necessary. Changes apply prospectively. They do not retroactively take away accrued claims, and we will obtain renewed agreement where required by law. Continued use or a Discord post alone does not substitute for legally required agreement or privacy consent.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue only to the extent consistent with applicable law and the agreement's essential purpose. Failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive it. Any transfer of the Service or this agreement remains subject to your non-waivable rights and applicable privacy requirements.
